Citrine is a member of the quartz family and is known for its range of color from pale yellow to deep amber or honey tones. It gets its color from traces of iron impurities within the crystal lattice. Natural citrine is an uncommon find, so most citrine on the market was originally Amethyst of Smoky Quartz that was exposed to heat, and therefore is referred to as “heat treated”.
